Whether you are returning your EV early or you have come to the end of your lease term, when the car goes back to the lessor, there are certain standards that the car has to meet in order to avoid a damages fee! This can vary from lessor to lessor so it is good to check their guides to ensure you return your car in a good condition to avoid any surprise fees! Regardless of whether the car is being sent back to the lessor or going to a new driver, you will need to ensure your car is in a fit condition for when the car is collected from you. You can check who your leasing company is by looking on your Employee Contract Amendment Agreement you signed with us to see which of the below guides is relevant for you.
Please find below, lessor-specific guides for returning a vehicle:
Can I smoke in my car?
We highly recommend not smoking in the car, as this may result in an additional fee, due to the smell and any damage caused by the cigarettes. If you smoke in your car, you must ensure any cigarette burns are reported and repaired.
Will I be charged for excess mileage?
We recommend staying within your allocated mileage allowance, as running over this may lead to excess mileage charges. If you believe you may go over your mileage allowance, let us know and we can support in altering your mileage allowance.
What do I need to put back in the car?
For collection, any additional accessories that came with the car will need to be placed back in the car. This includes any keys for the EV, handbooks, cables, shelves, tools, mats etc. If any accessories are missing, this may incur a fee.
What happens if my car is not in a fit condition?
It is important to let us know if you are concerned about the condition of the car as soon as possible so we can best support you before the vehicle is collected. If we have let you know that we are finding a new driver for your car, you will need to let us know before collection to avoid incurring additional costs.
We would recommend getting any damage repaired before the car is collected, to ensure that you stay in control of costs, however this is at your discretion to do so. Any repairs will need to be done to a high standard, as you may be charged for poor repairs.
Can I be charged for missing a vehicle service?
You may be charged by the lessor for missing a service before the return of the vehicle. See our article about how to book a car service to avoid this fee.
